Double Feature

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Today you get an added bonus for the Friday Fodder. I had my video all lined up (thanks Bill) and then my boss showed me video at work yesterday that I just HAD to share…as it might be the funniest thing I have ever seen. I was going to bump the video I had planned but decided I would share them both since they are both good. And who doesn’t need a little extra on a Friday? So enjoy…

Ellen Calls Gladys

Quote of the Year: “I love Jesus but I drink a little.”
I think this may be one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
Ellen is funny, but Gladys upstaged her several times.

Now, for the bonus feature…

I Can Do That!

Gotta love me some Fantasy Football!

Happy Friday All…TGIF!!

A Fresh Perspective

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I don’t exactly look forward to getting up everyday and heading into work. And I almost like my job! It’s just that I can think of about a million+ things I would rather be doing with that time and energy. I also know that God has other plans for the future (He just hasn’t revealed those plans yet). That makes it even harder at times to get up early and make the trek into work. And sometimes work just seems so…what’s the word…pointless—at least from a “big picture” sort of way.

With all this in mind…enter God’s Word:

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you
were working for the Lord rather than for people.
Colossians 3:23, NLT

Ugh! Really God? Work willingly? Now that’s just meddling!

This was the passage from my devotional this morning and it’s something I definitely need to work on. Here are a few quotes from this morning’s readings (and my comments):

As believers, we often see our work as an interference in our lives of faith. We would enjoy our lives more without it.

Can I get an AMEN to that one? Guilty as charged…have even been thinking about playing the lottery. Unfortunately, he didn’t stop there…

God has not placed us where we are simply for the output we can produce…Our work is in Him, even if it’s entirely secular in our minds. We are there because God wants to put godliness on display for others to see. He wants to infiltrate the culture we work in.

Now there is a fresh perspective and it puts my entire day in a new light. It also makes me question how well I have been putting “godliness on display” in the culture I work in. I think I would probably give myself a C+. But I will be working on it going forward. I have a feeling God will be working on this part of my life and attitude for awhile.
