A Pastor by Any Other Name…

Three times in the last week I’ve had people comment on my use of the term “Pastor”. That’s how I refer to my Pastor(s). It’s not an honorary term–they’ve earned the title! They deserve the respect and honor of those God has placed under their care–myself included.

Based on the comments I received this week, however, it seems I may be a relic when it comes to using this term/title? If it had come up only once I’d think it was nothing. Twice and I’d think it was a weird coincidence. Three times? Somebody seems to be trying to tell me something!

Regardless, I will continue to use the title….even if it means I’m turning into an old fogey (never thought I’d see the day)! I can’t help how I was raised.

;o)

As one of the “Pastors” in your life – it’s a mixed bag for me.

I appreciate the respect and honor that it carries…it also makes me feel awkward.

I’ve always wanted LESS obstacles in connecting with people and I felt like being called “Pastor” was an obstacle.

Of course, it wasn’t to those who called me that. For them it was the best thing they could do to tell me how much they loved me.

And you are getting old regardless of what you do with the term “Pastor.”

What Grant said … but, thank you for being ‘old fashioned’- it is honor, nay a privilege, to serve you as pastor.

Keep calling Grant that…keeping Grant feeling awkward is a good thing
