Sunday Crusaders Update

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

We are now 4 games into the fantasy football season and things are not what I had hoped. I am currently 1-3 heading into the dreaded “Bye Week Gauntlet”. The good news is that I could have won 2 of the games I lost had I played the right players (who knew I should play Ronnie Brown over Travis Henry 2 weeks ago??). Can’t seem to get all of my players to fire at the same time (like I have anything to do with it). Hopefully things work themselves out over the year as I’m still fairly happy with my team. Time will tell…

BTW, I obviously missed one of the games for the Broncos (I thought they’d be 3-1 right now…never saw that loss to Jacksonville coming!). I’m also not all that confident about my predicted win this Sunday to the Chargers. I think the only way the Broncos can win is to 9 guys in the box, shadow LT with 2 guys, and dare Rivers to beat Champ or Bly. Otherwise LT just might run for 400 yards and 17 touchdowns against “The Predominantly Orange Sieve Defense”.

Go Rockies!!

What Would You Do?

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Not sure why, but I woke up this morning thinking about a philosophical question I read in a book a few months ago. The question goes something like this:

If you knew you couldn’t fail,
and there were no obstacles standing in your way,
what would you do?

Again, I don’t know why this question came to mind this particular morning…but it’s fun to ponder the possibilities. One thing I’m pretty sure about is that I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now (vocationally). The good news for me is that I’m confident I am on the right path now that I’m going back to school and answering God’s calling. I have a passion for teaching. And would love nothing more than to use that gift in the church and broader community.

So what about you? What would you do? Are you doing it now? What’s standing in your way? I truly believe that God wants us to fulfill our passions and gifts (that’s why He gave them to us). Now, that doesn’t always translate into a vocation (sometimes work is an ends to a means…I think), but it translates into finding that thing (to quote City Slickers, “That one thing”) that stirs your heart and moves you to action.

What would you do??
